Types of Safaris in Jim Corbett National Park
Jim Corbett National Park offers two types of safari experiences: Jeep Safari and Canter Safari. Both safaris operate twice daily—morning and evening—allowing visitors to explore the park’s diverse landscapes, rich flora, and abundant wildlife. Each zone within the park offers a unique terrain and wildlife experience, making every safari an exciting adventure.
Due to high demand, especially during peak seasons, it is highly recommended that visitors book their safari in advance to secure their preferred slot.

Jeep Safari – The Most Popular Choice
Jeep Safari is the most preferred and widely chosen mode of wildlife exploration in Jim Corbett. This safari allows visitors to explore eight different zones—Jhirna, Dhela, Bijrani, Garjia, Phato, Durgadevi, Sitavani, and Bhandarpani.
Conducted in an open 4×4 Jeep, this safari provides an exclusive and intimate experience, making it ideal for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers. Each Jeep can accommodate up to 6 adults and 2 children (below 12 years) as per the Forest Department’s guidelines.

Canter Safari – Ideal for Groups
Canter Safari is a shared safari experience that operates only in the Dhikala Zone, which is one of the most scenic and wildlife-rich areas of the park. The Canter is an open-sided vehicle with a roof, capable of accommodating up to 16 passengers.
This safari is perfect for larger groups or visitors looking for a budget-friendly option to explore the deep forest. With its higher seating capacity, the Canter Safari offers a thrilling opportunity to spot tigers, elephants, and other exotic wildlife in their natural habitat.

Safari Booking in Corbett Tiger Reserve
Visitors can reserve their safari experience online for eight different zones: Jhirna, Dhela, Bijrani, Garjia, Phato, Durgadevi, Sitavani, and Bhandarpani. Additionally, Canter Safari is exclusively available for the Dhikala Zone.
All safari bookings are strictly managed by forest officials in accordance with the guidelines set by the central and state forest departments. Please note that safari zones, assigned drivers, and naturalists/guides are allocated solely by the forest authorities through an automated computerized system. We do not have control over these assignments, ensuring a fair and unbiased distribution of safari vehicles across all zones.
Each safari zone offers a rich and diverse wildlife experience, with sightings varying based on seasonal and environmental factors. While no particular zone guarantees specific wildlife sightings, every safari presents a unique opportunity to witness the raw beauty of Corbett’s landscapes and its thriving wildlife.
